Re: Kool-aid?

"Drinking kool-aid" is an American cultural reference.

In 1978, cult leader Jim Jones (WFS) persuaded large numbers of his followers to commit mass suicide by drinking cyanide-laced kool-aid. "Drinking kool-aid" is thus a reference to unthinking obedience to a leader. When used by non-members of a group, then intent is insulting; when used by members, the intent is self-deprecating and ironic.

"Drinking the koolaid" just means believing in whatever is being told, etc. Such that many people who try crossfit and see the results, and believe in the principles "drink the koolaid" that is the crossfit system.

As far as pukie, i think some people argue that anything that induces vomiting while working out is a sin or something, I dunno.

Re: Kool-aid?

Jorge, it is american slang, http://education.yahoo.com/reference...ry/entry/slang (WFS) for embracing wholeheartedly the philosophy of a subject .... as in "I have totally drank the Koolaid of Crossfit". "I breath, eat, and sleep this ...."
From one totally committed :-)

Its a clown puking, and is probably the most non politically-correct mascot in the free world. That, and have you ever seen a body-builder come close to puking, unless perhaps he's maxed out his 1RM squat?

If your mascot was "Curly the Concentration Curling Roid Clown" and you were suddenly told that a rapidly growing number of people took their fitness so seriously that they often vomited through the sheer intense effort of it, then laughed about it, then created a goofy-*** mascot to commemorate it, wouldn't you be just a tad worried that everything you know is wrong?

Worried enough to rip on it?

If you're making fun of something, its probably because, deep down, you're afraid of it. It's human nature; You fear it, so you belittle the object of your fears in order to make yourself feel better.

Oh, and there's another reason to rip on Pukie, or things in general; It's the Internet's most popular pastime.

Re: Kool-aid?

In the spirit of correctness I believe that Jim Jones had his followers drink flavor-aid a cheap knock off. But the reasoning is the same, as almost no one has heard of flavor-aid in a long time.
