Cleaning the Floor
It's funny, but, if you have a CrossFit you are not only known as "coach" but you are know as the Janitor!
I have recently converted from an MMA flooring to Black Rubber flooring and it is great for lifting etc... However, it seems to be a bit of a pain to clean. What do you use to maintain your floor?? THANKS PS. Not the most exciting topic, but, a relevant one for business. |

Re: Cleaning the Floor
Check your manufactures instructions. We use hot soapy water with a little bit of bleach about 3X month. For regular cleaning soapy water. We use

Re: Cleaning the Floor
Don't use bleach it will mess up your mats.
Use a blower to blow the dirt and dust out your back door and then use Mr clean febreeze floor cleaner. Now your box smells awesome and not like a 30 yr old ymca pool. |

Re: Cleaning the Floor
Ditto on the blower. However, I do use an industrial mop once a week; adding Odoban to the water. You can buy Odoban at Sams. It's great, no harsh chemicals and does not leave a residue. Bleach eats everything, and will eventually destroy your mats. I'm a small box, 1500sq feet. The mop is super heavy and a great workout. Think I'll buy 5 more and write it into a WOD! LOL

Re: Cleaning the Floor
Oh one more thing. You can't get too OCD over the floor. Assuming you are in industrial space like me, it IS a warehouse. I do not have A/C, to filter out the dust etc. I've never had anyone complain about the floor, but when they do I will remind them of the days we worked out in the park. How about that floor? Dirt, sand, weeds and fire ants!

Re: Cleaning the Floor
We have used 1/3 cup of bleach per 2 gallons of water for the past 3 years and our floors are fine. It isn't every week, or even every mopping. We talked to the manufacturers of the floor before we used anything. I feel that getting the manufacturers recommendation for YOUR flooring is key.
