Push-Up
I tried to search for this, but with no luck... Why is it that the scoring for the pushup requires both the chest and thighs to touch the ground? Perhaps this is just the rules of sport being arbitrary, but I would think you would be relaxing your core to accomplish this. Am I wrong? Maybe I should just videotape myself to check this. Maybe I am in a slight pike or slightly hollow position in my pushups, but this just doesn't sound right to me that the chest and thighs touch. Maybe this is just a scoring method to try to prevent the piking and make it easier to score?

Re: Push-Up
yeah i never understood this either. i always do pushups with a braced core and locked knees so only my chest touches. this is how ive learned the pushup from gym class to wrestling to bootcamp. im going to stick with it

Re: Push-Up
Best bet is to tie some thread or a rubber band or something just above the bottom of the parallette and make sure that is bounced every rep. Bouncing off the ground is silly.

Re: Push-Up
Yeah, don't bounce off your chest, that is only for benchpresses
![]() I touch my chest to to the ground. Sometimes I turned my head to the side, so I won't bounce my head off the ground. I would think touching your thighs to the ground would be overkill. |
