Re: Beth's Workout Log...attempting a 6 pack!

Okay, since my hands are ripped up, I did a little Murph experiment....

Modified Murph (can't do pullups)
1 mile run (~7:30)
50 HSPU (as little rest as possible in between)
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run (~10min)

Time: 42:30

I asked in another thread about subbing HSPU for pullups and it was stated that I wouldn't get the same Metcon effect as the pull ups. So I did about 15 HSPU before I rested, but I can see that you do get a little more rest doing the HSPU. Other than that it kicked my butt!! I had so much lactic acid I felt like I had tree trunks for legs on that second mile.

Re: Beth's Workout Log...attempting a 6 pack!

Hey, Beth. Just stumbled across your log and thought I would say hi. I think you already are going to do this, but you really need to rest those hands for a week or two. When they are ready to go again, I might also suggest doing dead hang pullups for a while. This will let your hands recover even more, and maybe start building calluses without the more intense blisters from kipping. This may hurt your times short term, but it should help your hands long term, and has a side benefit of working your pullup strength some too. Talk to you later.

Re: Beth's Workout Log...attempting a 6 pack!

Thanks Jeff! I've decided that I am ACTUALLY going to give them a rest for a little while. Only bar work that keeps my hands pretty still. I did make them some tape grips to protect the for a while. I soaked them in salt water today and they are starting to feel better.

I bought a KB and an OLY bar today!!

Re: Beth's Workout Log...attempting a 6 pack!

Nice new avatar, my friend!

Rice University's former top national collegiate pole vaulter is in the CF house!

Salt water helped, huh? We have to thank Kelly Moore for that! Got another oly bar, too, from Logan at PlayItAgSp. Thanks for telling me about the extra one, Beth. It was 10 bucks more because it wasn't as rusty but will do just fine with our community workout, right partner?!

Nice work on Murph! HSPU is one of your fortes.

Re: Beth's Workout Log...attempting a 6 pack!

Okay, with sore hands, legs, and shoulders I did the Thrusters today

CFWU x 3 (no pull ups)

Thrusters
10 x 45#
4x65#
4x90#

1-1-1-1-1-1-1
100-110-115-120-125-130 (fail)-125- 130(Fail)-125

I didn't count my fails, because i didn't get them overhead. There wasn't the same pop from the bottom at 130...need to work on my explosive power!!!
Although not bad for my first max on thrusters!

Got home....then

20min bike ride
10 vertical jumps
10 pushups
x5 rounds
Time: 3:30
10 min bike ride home

125 Thrusters, my friend, is a lot of weight. I knew you'd be loading up heavy on your max thrusters lift. I'll give you a

See you soon!
