Hello all, I am fairly new to crossfit. Been doing crossfit for about a month and a half. I love every thing about it. For someone like me, who was a gymnast for years and years, and now a mom will a full time job, there wasn't much time for working out. I decided to try crossfit and I feel better than I ever have.

Last night, while working out, we were doing walking lunges and all of a sudden I went down on my left leg and couldn't get up. I began experiencing severe pain in the center of my left butt cheek. I finished the workout (at a much slower pace) and the pain continued. I woke up this morning and the pain is still there just as severe. I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Whether it is a muscle soreness or whether its something I should have checked out.

My husband tried to elbow it out last night, but it only got worse. Never could really hit the spot.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like it could be a couple of things. Try this stretch and see if it helps. If not I would get it checked out to make sure its not something more problematic.

Lie on back.
Lift your Left leg to chest and grasp knee with opposite hand.
Gently pull your leg across chest to opposite shoulder while rotating leg inward until a stretch is felt deep in the buttocks.
