What to do after Smolov?

Loved the gains I made on Smolov, and I want to keep it going. What's a program to follow that will allow me to continue to make gains in squat as well as all the other major compound lifts?

I did Madcow for a a few months after to good success. Texas method or Westside would work too. I guess.it depends on what you want to do. If it is just to get stronger, any of those programs will work.

Strength is definitely priority number one. Goal is to get to 2.5X BW Deadlift, 2X BW Squat, 1.5X BW Bench, and 1x BW Press. Took Squat and Bench down in February.

So Madcow or Texas method would probably do you good. You can get templates for both. Texas method is tougher than madcow work-wise. I liked Madcow.

If you have the time and are good with proper recovery, Texas Method is good.

If I were you I would go to the opposite extreme and do something with very high intensity of effort and low volume. The juxtaposition of the two methods will be good for the body in terms of adaptation.

Re: What to do after Smolov?

I ran the full Smolov up through the intense cycle. I then went to 5-3-1 which was a bad idea, at least for squats. After about 8 months I've since switched to the Texas Method, and I've surpassed all my lifts. If I could do it over I would have gone right to the Texas Method. Started out with the standard template, then switched to a Split Texas method which is going extremely well.

Re: What to do after Smolov?

Here here for TM. That programs the boss. I'm midway through and have made some serious gains on it. It's also the first time I've been able to put weight on in a while. Plenty of reading for modifying and tweaking TM online as well.

I'm not saying they're useless but I don't have Lasceks ebooks. I want to get them but you know... the programs working fine so why would I buy them?

Edit: I did Madcow before. It was ok. TM has been a way better use of my time.

I may try tm sometime. Too much work for my current goals. I did Marcie for months without a failed rep.
