Core exercises that don't work the hips

I am looking for exercises that work the core (not just abs) without putting stress on the inside of the hip (because I have a minor injury there), I think it's the hip flexor.

My usual core workouts are planks, bridges, ab wheel roll outs but those also stress my hip ( & worsen the injury). I am looking for alternatives.

1 armed OHP, 1 armed bench, suitcase deadlift, full contact twist, possibly L-sits and L-chins, deadlifts, squats and overhead squats with a narrow stance.

Re: Core exercises that don't work the hips

I would think an L-sit would involve the hip flexors a lot... best bet would be looking into something like an abmat situp (takes the hip felxors out of situps) or the Janda situp, maybe supermans if they don't hurt to get the back side.

But anything held overhead is a good go for the trunk. 2 handed or 1 handed, mix it up, walk around.

abmat situps with your legs splayed out to the sides. Bent knees, then push both knees out wide. Removes hip flexors from the equation.

L-sits engage hip flexors big time.

a rolled up rowel placed udner your lower back is almost as good as an abmat.

you want something that is going to maintain the natural curve in your lower spine.

Re: Core exercises that don't work the hips

Also, placing the soles of your feet together with your knees on the ground out to the sides will help take hip flexors out of situps, so with an abmat/pillow/towel/etc under your low back you could be ok.
