i'm looking for a good padded stick for FMA sparring. what's a good one? would it be better/more economical to just get wrap a foam noodle around a regular rattan stick or some pvc pipe?

thanks

I like action flex, but there are some other good brands out there too. Wrapping a regular stick works, but it changes the center of gravity and makes your wrist work harder to control the stick. I find it much slower rechambering after a shot vs. an unpadded stick or the actionflex.

Re: Good padded stick?

Wrap a small diameter rattan with foam insulation then duct tape it.

Re: Good padded stick?

Hey Dave!

Try the Lameco padded stick - I think they are still available via the Lameco website. They have a canvas covering, a rattan core and relatively good padding - just enough but not too much.

BTW - I have a couple in class that you can swing to see if you like them!

See you next week!

Re: Good padded stick?

Graphite golf shaft wrapped in a "pool noodle" and duck taped.

Good fun!
