Saturday I met up with Barry Cooper, Scott Kustes, and two of his friends.

We played Hooverball with Barry's 20# ball. We got some strange looks, but found one victim come and try it out.

It was much more fun than I expected, and I can't believe how sore I was the next day.

Barry & Scott, I hope you feel as much pain as I do. My hands are so sore.

I think I found another friend to join us next time.

Theron

Good times. My upper back seemed to be more tired than anything. Of course, nobody wanted to throw me the ball  They seemed to have some sort of issue with my serve, too. Not sure what that was about.

We finished with what I thought was Karen--50 wallball shots--but when we got done I had an uneasy feeling that it was WAY too easy. I had no nausea at all, so I looked it up, and of course it is 150.

Theron and Barry,
I used to take my platoon out to the beach at Camp Pendleton and do the workouts on the beach. On several occasions we played hooverball. It is amazing how fast your catch and release technique improves between the first game and the second.
Although, the first time we played we used a hard rubber ball. That was a mistake.

I was wondering if Scott would jump in, but truth be told I was being bit obnoxious with my serves, and Scott in particular was a good sport about it. I noticed that you can throw it really low and fast if you mimic the end position of a Scottish hammer throw, i.e. "C" formation with your arms over your left shoulder. The impact when you catch it is pretty severe. They zinged a couple at me, so I know. Just to mix things up, that wouldn't be a bad event for the fighters among us. Maybe even lower the net to waist height and throw it at each other as hard as you can. I know boxers use medicine balls somewhat like that.

Like Theron said, my grip was pretty worn by the end of 5 games of 10 points.

Barry, that serve was brutal. It was like a freight train hitting the chest. But if I could've done it I would've too. :proud: It's all part of the game and probably helps me physically (somehow?). Good times were had by all. My whole body was tanked by the end of those 5 games, but I managed to stave off soreness and get back to operating status within a couple hours.

Also, Barry, what's your email address (it's not on your profile)?

Hmmm ... sounds a little like the scene in Happy Gilmore where he takes shots to the chest and head from the pitching machine in the batting cage ... "364 more days 'till hockey tryouts, I gotta toughen up ... {whack!} Oh God, that felt good .. Yeah!"

Thanks Barry. That's not that far of a drive for me(5 hours). Maybe I can make it out one weekend for some workouts or something. I hate living so far away from everything.

That'd be fine. Maybe we could play Hooverball, then do Karen. Another idea I had was to play over a football goal post. No boundaries. If you get it over, it's in. That could be fun.
