Re: Ryan's Ranger School Preparation Log

Oh well, Ranger school is mostly 8 weeks of starvation and sleep deprivation anyways.

Re: Ryan's Ranger School Preparation Log

Ryan,

Not sure why I haven't checked out your thread before, but catching up now.

Congrats on the baby man, I have a little girl myself and I hear you about the sleep dep thing.

Sorry to hear about the ranger slot. I know for you light guys its a much bigger deal then in the heavy world for any MOS. Funny to hear you lost your spot due to a hardware problem. That is exactly why I had mine pulled (titanium plate forehead, pins and wires L shoulder). Oh well. I gave up on it, are you still pushing?

Where are you off to after the career course?

Re: Ryan's Ranger School Preparation Log

Harley,

I don't know where I am going after CLC3...I want to go to Campbell, but it will just depend on the slots they have.

As far as Ranger School goes...I've had to do a real re-evaluation of my goals as far as my career goes. I wanted to go mostly for the personal accomplishment more so than career for advancement. I am realizing now that the Army wants me to stay healthy, get smart, and work hard at being a CO or a staff officer for the next 10-12 years. In other words, my trigger time is over. And I guess that is OK. It's just moving from one phase of service to another. And I've got to get used to it.

Re: Ryan's Ranger School Preparation Log

I'm sorry to hear about the slot being pulled. That's just so typical - you're obviously fit if you're capable of doing CrossFit workouts - but the Army is the Army. Don't despair, there will be other opportunities, even if Ranger School doesn't work out for you. Take heart in your service so far, and the potential of your career.
