Fertilizing The Box Community

I've been at my box for 6 months and it just dawned on me yesterday that I should be having my hair cut by the member of my box who cuts hair for a living.

Buy local is all the rage. How about "buy from box-mates" as a community building tactic?

How do you encourage your athletes to do business with each other?

Re: Fertilizing The Box Community

I got an email from a box owner that he has a bulletin board where members can post business cards and flyers of events, items for sale, etc.

He says its popular with members. (I scolded him for not posting here for all the world to see.)

Mixing business with pleasure is always a good idea until the business goes wrong, and the pleasure becomes not pleasurable.

Taking a chance on someone new cutting your hair is no big deal. You can always go back to your old barber if they screw up. But once you go to them for one haircut, if you ever go anywhere else, they'll notice, and probably ask you about it.

Re: Fertilizing The Box Community

Our website has a 'member profiles' section where they can list what they do for a living. Other members use this as a directory if they have a good or service they are looking for.
