Re: Pulled the Trigger

Ok, here's a quick pic after building/installing everything. It's a bit barebones looking, but it has about 95% of what I need.

With respect to the bar, I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with it thus far. That just might be my newness/unfamiliarity with true Olympic lifting talking, but I do like it.

I moved the mat from the corner to in front of the squat rack and will be buying another 4'x6' mat as well.

Also, the package containing the 53 and 70 lb. kettle bells was heavy. Who knew?

Re: Pulled the Trigger

Smart idea getting the squat stands now, will give the ability to have a partner workout if you add a power rack or wall mount.

Are you building a lifting platform? I built one with plywood + stall mats and I love it (same design used everywhere with alternating layers).

Setup looks awesome, lots of room for expansion!

Re: Pulled the Trigger

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I'll probably tone down the equipment buying for a while as we break it in (we being my son and I). I'll probably grab a white board today after work and put it up and buy some bands for the wife to do assisted pull ups with.

I'll be on the look out for a flat bench on Craigslist soon and then I'll consider making a lifting platform later in the year. The home gyms with them look really, really nice.

My daughter wants to name the gym "Drohan Mayhem." A little presumptuous, but it does have a flow to it. We did meet Rich after all back in February.

Sweet set up. I've spent the last couple days looking over several of those same options (what kind of bar, squat rack and a wall mounted pull-up or all in one unit). So many decisions......
