Re: Hook Grip tearing under right Pinky

Yep. Then it is rolling in my sweaty hands and tearing me up because I was holding the bar incorrectly.

The grip suggestions are good. As a temporary fix to allow you to train while it heals, you might try putting tape on the bar, rather than your hands. The idea being to protect your hands from the knurling while avoiding the other issues with tape.

Some bars have much more aggressive knurling than others. Trying a softer knurl might be worth a try.

wrist sweat bands - trust me. Once the callouses get wet from sweat, they are vulnerable. Then you can use less chalk and tear less. Also, get a water based lotion like Cetaphil (does a much better job of moisturizing).

If it hasn't already been suggested you might want to try some straps too. I was tearing badly until I got these nice leather straps:

Although you don't want to use straps for cleans. Nice way to hurt yourself very badly.

Yeah I need to pick-up some good wrist sweat bands. The cheap ones I have now do not pick-up the moisture at all. The expensive Nike ones I have are... too small? They are far too tight now. I am not sure if they have been shrinking or I have been growing

What kind of weight are you pulling on your O lifts? Just curious because I hook grip and have never torn like that.

Re: Hook Grip tearing under right Pinky

I just hit 185# on snatch yesterday with the correct version of the hook grip.

I was tearing at 135-155 sometimes, though.
