Elephant Painting

Have you all seen this? W/f s

I don't know the background. I'll have to read up on it, but even if the elephant is trained, that's pretty amazing.

Re: Elephant Painting

Pretty cool ... the elephants that I've known (and I've known a few!) have been pretty stubborn. If it's doing that on its own, that's some impressive stuff. Ruby the elephant used to be quite a sensation, but if I remember correctly, she just splotted on the canvas

Hopefully nothing cruel and unusual went into the training of this ... still impressive though.

Re: Elephant Painting

I've seen this at the Royal Elephant conservatory in Lampang Thailand. Actually the people guide the elephant trunks, and pick the colors. They said that elephants are colorblind. An American guy does a lot of work there, and consults on movies (Operation Dumbo drop anyone?).

The elephants there are treated exceptionally well, and there is a hospital for injured and abandoned elephants right near by. Great day trip from Chiang Mai, or you can stay there for a few days and learn to be a Mahout.
