Re: Anyone have pics?

It's fine as a marketing tool, but I thought CF was about performance first, appearance second? The idea that if you train for performance, your body shape will come along? THat your fran time, deadlift, press and 5k time are more important than abz or gunz?

Hmmm, You are right. There probably should have been more focus on times and weight.
But I still like it

I think most people start CF with the main goal of losing bodyfat and losing weight. Some of those people will start to change their focus to performance AFTER reaching their aesthetic goal. That's my take.

Jon,

Thats unfortunately true, but the changes most people want aesthetically come from chasing performance, not the other way around.

Honestly, that was my main and only reason for starting.
I am just now, because of dropping weight, focusing on what is important.
Jamie, I think you are right. Now that I have started paying attention to the real stuff, I am seeing more of a change in how I look/feel.
I did it backwards, but it is working/on track now

Jamie, while most people that drink the koolaid (including myself) all know this to be true, John Doe on the street (who is overweight) doesn't know that. Get them in the door with something they know ("Hey, they lost weight! Awesome!") and get them to drink the koolaid too. I think that un-fit and overweight people will generally have a hard time thinking "You know what? I want to shave 5min of my 5k, and Deadlift 100lbs more", when they may have never done either of those before.

And then tell them that they can't have Kool-Aid anymore. Not paleo.

Alec,

Trust me, it's all about hip extension

Lawrence,

I have no problem with touting CF's affect on appreance, but I couldn't find a single stat of athletic improvment on those profiles. THere might have been some on the ones I didn't read but I made it thourgh half of them. At least give the performance numbers the same time and effort as the appearance ones. Hell, most people equate fitness with the army PFT (push ups, running, sit ups) so throw those numbers up there. Something.

In all seriousness, I started CF primarily to get back in shape...to be an athlete again. Weight loss was a huge goal, but it was secondary. I knew if I was exercising, I would get my body back to where I wanted it to be. While I know that my pics have motivated some people to start/continue CrossFit, I was hesitant to do a testimonial for my affiliate with pics. Not everyone gets a "perfect" body from CF, and I think it's irresponsible to encourage people to chase that goal. I just did the Carolina CrossFit Challenge and got my butt stomped by some seriously strong, fit women. I don't think most of them give a crap about what they look like in a bikini.
