Tim and Kyle vs CrossFit

So me and my buddy Kyle decided to start CrossFit today.

Tim 23/m/6'1/180

Kyle 22/m/5'11/240

Since we're just starting out, we did half of Murph to see where we stood.
Tuesday 090317

"Murph"

For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

Half-Murph (cut everything in half)
Tim: 28:32
Kyle: 33:12

Tim notes: Arms feeling pretty dead, legs not so bad, probably could have done another round but the pull ups became too much, even having switched to jumping pull ups around round 4 (partitioned 5/10/15).

Kyle notes: Pull ups were worst part, only able to complete first round before switching to jumping. Push ups/squats were no problem. Side burning after finishing, burns so good

Thursday 090319

Ten rounds for time of:
3 Weighted Pull-ups, 45 pounds
5 Strict Pull-ups
7 Kipping Pull-up

For weighted pull-ups place a 45 pound dumbbell between the legs above crossed ankles and jettison the dumbbell after third rep and continue with strict pull-ups and then the kipping pull-ups. Coming off the bar or going to ground constitutes termination of a set.

Post time and number of sets to completion.

Compare to 090108.

Since we are both still new to crossfit, we suck at pull ups. We just did regular pull ups till exhaustion then switched to negative pull ups until we couldn't resist our body weight anymore. Counting negatives as one rep...

225 pound Deadlift, 21 reps
Run 800 meters
225 pound Deadlift, 15 reps
Run 800 meters
225 pound Deadlift, 9 reps
Run 800 meters

Five rounds for max reps of:
Body weight bench press
Pull-ups

Post reps for both exercises in all rounds.

Compare to 081125.

Tim: Bench is and always has been my weakest exercise. 135lb bench.
Round 1: 6 bench 12 pullups
Round 2: 4 bench 10 pullups
Round 3: 3 bench 20 pullups (switched to negatives after 6)
Round 4: 2 bench 20 pullups (switched to negatives after 4)
Round 5: 3 bench 20 pullups (all negatives)

Kyle: 205lb bench press
Round 1: 11 bench 20 negative pullups
Round 2: 6 bench 20 negative pullups
Round 3: 8 bench 20 negative pullups
Round 4: 6 bench 20 negative pullups
Round 5: 5 bench 20 negative pullups
