Re: Nancy's Log

Doin' my own thing here! Decided to squeeze in my modified WOD, instead of waiting until evening.

I know this is all about working on yourself and doing your best, but I'm a little embarrassed to post my lame lightweight workouts! But, here it is:

after surfing in the morning, I just did:

(don't know how to safely do snatches, or whatever, so I just do a simple overhead lift. Just want to avoid injury at this point)

10 pound dumbbell squat, then raise overhead, left arm, 10 reps
10 pound dumbbell squat, then raise overhead, right arm, 10 reps
10 push-ups
10 pound dumbbell squat, then raise overhead, left arm, 10 reps
10 pound dumbbell squat, then raise overhead, right arm, 10 reps
10 push-ups
10 pound dumbbell squat, then raise overhead, left arm, 10 reps
10 pound dumbbell squat, then raise overhead, right arm, 10 reps
10 push-ups

If I had 15 lb weights, I'd have tried that, but only have 10 & 20. Next time, I'll increase my reps or try the 20 lb.

Re: Nancy's Log

Walked 3/4 mile
3 sets of 10 modified pull up on a low bar
Balance exercises on hanging wooden plank
Walked 3/4 mile home

WOD:
150 wallballs with a basketball (yes, just a basketball, it's all I have for now!)
time 4:20

Even though my WOD's are super modified, I am still feeling stronger than I did a week ago. Baby steps, baby steps!

Re: Nancy's Log

WOD: rest day

biked 7 miles: 24 minutes.

That's on the roads, on my mountain bike with shopping baskets attached on the back, and includes stopping for a good number of traffic lights, since I do the urban thing.

Re: Nancy's Log

oh dearie me. my new bike odometer was set to kilometers, not miles, so, my 7 mile bike ride that I posted for yesterday, was only 7k. got it changed to miles now.

Today started with...

1 hour dog walk
2 mile bike ride to the park

WOD in the park w/ local affiliate (the 2 guys running it were awesome)

I think it was called a Burpee ladder. Kicked my butt.

20 rounds of:

20 burpees and 200m run
19 burpees and 200m run
decending all the way down to 1 burpee and 200m run

The first round, I did all 20 burpees, next one I dropped to 15, next one I dropped to 10 and did 10 for a few rounds, and then I ended up doing 5 burpees for all the rest of my rounds.

Then:
9 mile bike ride
eat lunch
6 mile bike ride home

total biking for the day = 17 miles

I'm toast.

Rest Day

My upper arms are really sore today. Must be from the burpees on Saturday. I hope it subsides a bit by tomorrow.

Re: Nancy's Log

What the heck happened to me?!

Yesterday my arms were sore, so I took a rest day. I decided that it'd be a good idea to massage my upper arms with my electric massager.

All was well, until a few hours later, when my upper arms were killing me! OMG. I must have either overdone it, or put too much pressure on. Never had this happen before.

Still hurting pretty bad today, so forced to take another rest day. Popping ibuprofen, and going to soak in an epsom salt bath.

Live and learn.

If still sore tomorrow, will continue with just lower body workout.

Re: Nancy's Log

4 sets of: 20 seconds/10 seconds rest/20 seconds/10 seconds rest

jumping jacks on mini-tramp
stair jump up and down
jump rope

Limited time this morning, so just threw this one together. My aching arms are feeling much better today, but figured it was best to give them one more day to recuperate, so just did lower body stuff.

Sometimes I find I'm more sore two days after a really hard workout than the day right after.
