One of the things that has helped me and my athletes the most is dropping the hips a bit lower then a deadlift setup for the first pull, and really feel the bar sweep back with the legs and then scoop with the knees. That sweep back and scoop made all the difference for me. It's not a straight rip from the ground.

do we have awesome videos showing the "scoop" ?

am i supposed to do a double knee bend also?

double knee bend, scoop, etc is all terms for the same thing. Getting your knees out of the way of the bar, and getting back under it to jump the 2nd pull. (as opposed to moving the bar around your knees)

Matthew - I'll be making a vid on going down from the waist to the knees, below the knees and floor on the clean/snatch
Wednesday is our WL class - so I'll tape one of our folks during the warmup.

You don't want to do the double knee bend... you just want to let it happen. It's natural and thinking about it can be counterproductive.

I love how these frequently turn into everyone critiquing everyone else's advice rather than actually helping the original poster. I'm sure most of these suggestions, certainly if given in person with some proper cues, would result in an improved lift.

But, matter-of-factly telling everyone else they are wrong is, well, useless.
