My modified MEBB Journal

I'm working on a modified MEBB approach and I thought I'd log it here in case anyone is interested in how it goes.

Basically, it's a minimalist approach - I'm 45 and I find I need to work hard but also get in lots of good recovery...I did SS and then 5x5, but I found that the volume was just too much for me to fully recover, and I don't want to spend so much time in the weight room during multiple exercises per session. The MEBB template is great for this purpose, but the change I'm making to it is to add an additional cycle of high rep work for each movement. I think at my age it is good to do some hypertrophy work - not to get huge, but to help maintain muscle mass..(this is based on a comment I recently read by Dan John).

So, this is what it looks like day by day:

1. xf wod
2. mebb - Deadlift - (a. 5 x 3; b. 5 x 1; c. 3 x 15)
3. xf wod
4. rest
5. xf wod
6. mebb - squat - (a. 5 x 3; b. 5 x 1; c. 3 x 15)
7. xf wod
8. rest
9. xf wod
10. mebb - press - (a. 5 x 3; b. 5 x 1; c. 3 x 15)
11. xf wod
12. rest
repeat

the first time through, it's the "a" reps/sets (5 x 3), the second time "b", then "c", then back to "a". With each cycle, I'll increase the weight.

If anyone happens to read this and has any comments or suggestions, I'd be please to hear them!
