Fight Gone Bad

We are getting ready to have a neighborhood FGB today in my driveway and I'm a bit confused about the WB target height. Is the official FGB rx'd with an 8' target for WBs, as the FAQ states, or is it a 10' target as that is the height I have always seen "rx'd" whenever FGB appears as the WOD?

Thanks in advance for any input.

TJO

Hi Tim,

We just did the exact same thing you are doing, a driveway FGB. I went to the FAQ this morning and the height stated is 8'. That's what we used. What a difference 2 feet makes! Good luck, David.

Re: Fight Gone Bad

Thanks David. You're not kidding about those two feet. I've gotten 20 less total WBs using 10' vs. 8' in the past.

If I had to guess though, it is just a mistake on the FAQs and in all likelihood 10' is the intended target. BTW, we used 9' today and there were no PRs for anyone...humbled again!

Re: Fight Gone Bad

I think they used 9' at the FGB II for prostate cancer this past weekend.

I watched a guy score 452 as RXd.. crazy!!

Seriously? At all the Class A prescribed weights? I saw that in the email that detailed the results, but figured it was someone doing the Class B weights.

Re: Fight Gone Bad

I've always heard that the 8ft target thing was a typo that has insidiously spread from the FAQ. From my understanding, FGB is to be done with 10ft targets with a 20lb ball - the CF wall-ball default.

To me - 10ft makes the most sense. At 8ft, wall-ball becomes by far the easiest station in FGB for the average CrossFitter and ends up with disproportionately high scores compared to the other stations.

Re: Fight Gone Bad

The 8' target cited in the FAQ came straight from the source:

http://www.crossfit.com/journal/libr...f_workouts.pdf (WFS, of course).

Most of the posted WODs since that article have used the 10' target, but, sorry to say, not a "typo that has insidiously spread from the FAQ."

Maybe a "typo that spread insidiously from Coach Glassman..." y'all can take it up with him!

Re: Fight Gone Bad

I'd swear that the target height at my cert (Oct 06, Rainier CF) was AT LEAST 10' (felt like 15'). Seriously, there was no way it was set at 8'. I'll look forward to trying FGB at 8' since WB is probably my weakest station.

Re: Fight Gone Bad

Just realized this could go down in history as the most undecipherable thread every for a non-crossfitter...

"We are getting ready to have a neighborhood FGB today in my driveway and I'm a bit confused about the WB target height. Is the official FGB rx'd with an 8' target for WBs, as the FAQ states, or is it a 10' target as that is the height I have always seen "rx'd" whenever FGB appears as the WOD?"

Just called my girlfriend and left that as a message on her answering machine. Good stuff!

Chad
