Pressure cooker: Do I need one? Can't I just wok or steam veggies. What's the advantage?

I know the newer models don't blow up anymore, but as one who is kitchen-challenged, need I take such a risk?

I love my steamer for veggies and crock pot for meat. So, no, I don't believe you need to take the risk. I wouldn't know what to do with a pressure cooker if I tripped over it.

The primary advantage is speed. A pressure cooker will do what a steamer can in less than half the time. It's also better for stews and soups. I certainly wouldn't say you need one, but if you can find one at a good price, you certainly won't regret it.

I recommend a self-contained electric version rather than a stovetop model, so you can turn it on and forget about it until it's done cooking.
