Jeannie's Workout Log

My name is Jeannie and I am starting my own workout log because I have started logging onto Crossfit.com almost as much as I log into Facebook. I figure if I stay up a little later at night just so I can see what the next day’s wod is going to be it might be the right time to start my own log.

I have been Crossfitting since August of 2007 at Crossfit Henderson. I started with a Ladies Fitness Boot Camp program and I was unable to finish the first two workouts. I did manage to finish the third and the others that followed, but I was in a lot of pain for at least a month and a half. I was a competitive swimmer and lifeguard until I graduated from college, but had completely stopped exercising in law school, so I was incredibly out of shape.

I weighed around 225 lbs when I started. I lost a little bit of weight initially, but mostly what I noticed was improved muscle strength and definition. I had been Crossfitting for about two months when I found out I was pregnant. I did not want to stop the program, so I continued to do what I felt comfortable with during the pregnancy. By month 8, I was doing a lot of walking, but I was still in decent shape and had only gained 30lbs. (15 of which where in the last trimester). I had a little girl in early June of 2008, and I started the Boot Camp program again in August. The day I delivered, I weighed 254lbs. Boot Camp was nowhere near as difficult the second time around. For the last six months, I have been Crossfitting five to six days a week, usually six.

I currently weigh 175 lbs, so I have lost 80 lbs in the last year. I did not drastically change my diet, but I do drink a lot more water than I ever have before. For the last month or so I have been trying to eat more “zone” based meals. I think I can attribute my last 10 lbs of weight loss to the diet change. My current goal is to weigh 150 lbs, so I have 25 more pounds to lose. Somewhere along the line, I got bitten by the Crossfit bug. I am thinking the major results have done it for me. I hated working out for the longest time and now I really enjoy it. Still not a huge fan of running and I don’t think I ever will be, but I will get better at it. Two months ago I was using bands to do pull-ups, now I can do them without assistance. I truly amaze myself almost every day with what I am able to get my body to do for me. Crossfit has to be one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

I recently registered for the level one certification program in September of this year. More and more people are coming to the gym and I really enjoy working with them and working out with them. Crossfit is just something you want to share. I know it sounds cheesy, but Crossfit really has changed my life. Matt Thacker and Mike Bishop have been instrumental in my Crossfit success story. Matt as my trainer and workout partner; and Mike as a workout partner. I appreciate all that both of you have done, and I look forward to all that we can and will accomplish in the future. 3-2-1 go!

I’m 5’3 and currently weigh 175 lbs. These are some of my numbers.

Deadlift: 330
Back Squat: 240
FGB: 243
CFT: 670
5K: 34:49

Run 800 meters
Left arm barbell push-press 12 reps
Right arm deadlift 12 reps
Run 800 meter

Rough workout. I ran most of the 800s. Probably walked a total of 300 or 400 meters. The running is getting better.
