BodyBuilding Supplements

Questions, I am fairly new to crossfit, I have been doing a hardcore approach to the heavy body building (mostly vanity no function). And I know that i got a lot of help from items like BSN NO Xplode, and basically their whole line, tried the ANIMAL Stak and such, and I am noticing, a strange lack of talk about the key supplements body builders are addicted to. Anyone want to help shine some light?

Re: BodyBuilding Supplements

Why is it strange that there is a lack of talk about BODYBUILDING supplements on a CrossFit forum?

I would wager a bet that most people here try to avoid supplements and stick with whole foods. Yeah, a lot of people use protein powders, and the occasional vitamin and fish oil, but that's about it.

Remember, most people began/begin CrossFit for health reasons, and mass quantities of chemicals (bodybuilding supplements) are not conducive to that.

Re: BodyBuilding Supplements

It's because most bodybuilding supplements are a lot of hype and near-zero results.

People on here do use supplements, but they just stick to the ones that are known to work--whey, casein, glutamine, BCAAs, creatine, caffeine, fish oil, D3, ZMA, etc.

pretty much what i thought, i was just looking for some clairification. Thank You. So then i guess there would never be a reason to have a testing format at the CF games, for PEDs right?

I don't doubt that. Especially now that there is some serious cash being thrown around.

Re: BodyBuilding Supplements

My considered opinion is that it is due to CrossFit being populated, in general, with a more educated crowd combined with the fact that supplements were initially not at all part of the CrossFit culture.

The educated part being important because unlike the gullible masses, more CFers than the bodybuilding norm understand enough about basic nutrition and ergogens to know what is b.s. and what isn't.

Definitely. And it is refreshing to not see tons of people asking about the new mega ultra super max supplement that will get them huge in six weeks with no work unlike most bodybuilding style forums.

Also, I think the CrossFit affiliates that sell supplements know what they are talking about and don't try to push some garbage that you see at the globo gyms.
