Re: Jumprope of choice for DUs

The power max is fine but it's a pretty heavy rope. Really, the biggest key is to just do lots of double unders and you can use anything. After many years of using fancy jumpropes I now only use the super cheap liquorice ropes that cost 2.50 a pop and have no moving parts (two plastic handles and the vinyl rope is held in with knots). The number of D.U.s I can string together isn't limited by the type of rope, it's from my endurance. Get there and stop worrying about the rope.

Yes. I have the plastic one, not the leather.

Matt, I have the same blue and white "rope!" $1.99 at Play It Again Sports??

I can only do every other jump as a du. Wonder if a better rope would help too!

I bought one of these at a local shop last week. I didn't know it was PowerMax, but I like it. Fast and sturdy.

I have one of those but it's too fast for me and it tends to break the skin when it hits my shins. This one (WFS) looks cheap but is just the right speed for me. I just got one of the Rogue ones after sectionals--it looks just like the Powermax one and is a little heavier than the one I linked, so I figure I'll keep using the Rogue rope in training to build up wrist and forearm speed then I can always switch back to my lighter one for competition or if I'm trying to PR.

Pure genius .

I will say, the bearings on the PowerMax make all the difference for me. It turns completely differently than the other ropes.
