Re: Mayhem - noun: random or deliberate violence or damage.

Wow, somebody read my log! Thank Robert. I've been to Cheyenne before and really liked it. Drove from Cheyenne to Evanston one day and it was...desolate, but I don't like people that much so it was great.

WOD 090124

Back squat, 1 rep
Shoulder Press, 1 rep
Deadlift, 1 rep

Justin's Results:
BS: 315 with truly ugly form
SP: 165
DL: 350
Total: 820

I haven't even tried to pick up over 300# in way more than a year, probably not since before my knee surgery in Jan 07, so more than 2 years.

Shondra's Results:
BS: 105
SP: 65
DL: 135
Total: 305

I think this was the first time that Shondra has ever tried a max lift on anything.

Our times were 1:35 and 1:08 respectively. It took us so long because there is only one 45# bar in our gym so the transitions were what killed us.

You mean this wasn't for time?

SUNDAY 090125

"Barbara"

Five rounds, each for time of:
20 Pull-ups
30 Push-ups
40 Sit-ups
50 Squats

Rest precisely three minutes between each round.

So I just got back from a date with Barbara and I think she may have slipped me a rufie because my head is spinning, I feel sick, and I'm all shaky. Shondra did this one with me and our results are:

Shondra - 70# assist on pull ups and modified push ups on knees
1 - 5:34
2 - 5:33
3 - 5:47
4 - 4:38
5 - 4:32
Total - 26:04

Justin - as Rx'd
1 - 4:43
2 - 4:58
3 - 4:46
4 - 4:37
5 - 4:15
Total - 23:19

Mmmmm....chips and salsa! Recovery food! Time to check out the comments and see how we stack up.

This thing looks like a dancing weiner with a floppy green stringy hat. Ok, I guess it could be a pepper...

Incredible how your fastest Barbara rounds were the last 2, were you cruising in the beginning or what ?!

Re: Mayhem - noun: random or deliberate violence or damage.

Well this was my first crack at Barbara so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've always been one to save a little in the gas tank to have a strong finish. As far as my wife speeding up at the end...there is a really creepy guy at our gym and she just wanted to get the heck out of there. One of these days I'm going to snap a pic of this guy with my phone and post it on the site. He's a real d bag who likes to stare

Upon looking at other people's times I've come to realize that either there are lots of super-human people out there, or there are lots of liars. I mean come on, using a 20# vest and never going over 2:15 !?!? I just don't believe it...although I have seen people in the video section doing things that I thought were previously impossible. I guess I'm just a cynic. My arms are falling asleep.

Lol - that's part of the fun of the log!!

Ya, the drive between Cheyenne and Evanston (heck most anywhere in Wy) can be a little desolate.

I'll have to direct you to my favorite Sherlock Holmes quote. He does a great job of describing Wyoming. It's from A.C. Doyle's first Holmes story. I'll put it on my log sometime.

Looks like you two are doing very well. Keep up the good work!

Re: Mayhem - noun: random or deliberate violence or damage.

MONDAY 090126

Warmup:
1000m row on C2, then 3 rounds of:
20 push ups
8 dead hang pull ups
10 dips
10 front squats with 45# bar

Five rounds for time of:
30 Glute-ham sit-ups
25 Back extensions

We don't have a GHD apparatus at our gym so I had to do the situps on a bench with my feet hooked under the bar on the smith machine. I went to parallel, NOT hyperextended touching the floor because I suck. Our back extension unit is on about a 35-40 degree angle so a bit easier than on the GHD machine.

Total time: 9:03

I was a bit disappointed in myself. Even with the easier setups my time was slower than I thought it should have been. I hate being a weiner. I worked on my shoulder press form for a bit afterwards because it was either stay at the gym or go home and clean house.

Just watched the video of that beast doing 5-4-3-2-1 for time of 225# thruster and 500# deadlift. That's loco in the cabeza.

Thumbs down Re: Mayhem - noun: random or deliberate violence or damage.

WEDNESDAY 090128

Thruster 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

This was Shondra's first time to even attempt a thruster (I know, I should have made her practice with a broomstick for a few years first, but I thought she could handle it.) and only my second time to do the actual "thruster" movement. I've had experience doing olympic lifts so I wasn't too scared, but I should have been. Those are hard. Shondra had issues with the depth of her squat and I don't think that any of them would have counted in a competition. I have issues with shoulder and wrist flexibility so...that's the only reason I can think of for sucking. I definitely need to get some gloves because the bar placement in my hands for the thruster really hurts my Dupuytren's Contracture lumps.

Warmup:
Row 500m then three rounds of:
Thruster 45x10
Sit up x 10
Push up x 20
Back Ext x 10
Pull up x 8
Dip x 10

Shondra:
45x3
55f
45x2
45x1
50x1
55f
50x1

Justin:
65x4
85x2
100x1
115x1
125x1
135x1
145x1
155x1

I didn't really know where to start at since I have never maxed out on these before. I probably could have gone heavier in the earlier sets and maybe even a 165 or more on the last one.
