Hungriest on rest days?

Hey all,

I've noticed that I'm at my hungriest on my off days. I'm on the Zone (17 blocks,) and rest days are usually the only day I actually eat a full 17, and I eat extra fat. I just can't seem to curb my hunger. The only other days I'm this hungry are if I train right after I coach my first class, which is at 0600, meaning I train at about 0700. Usually I do my workout at 1100-1130.

Anyone experience this or have any idea what the cause may be?

I also used to find myself hungriest on rest days (and still do occas). CUrrently I train oly 5x week and on weekends (mostly Sat) when I dont train I eat tons!! Its all paleo but its a lot. I find my Vit D stores (disciple) are more dialed in during the days I train and also that my body needs that weekend as catch up and replenish time. Btw, Coach Burgener and others all told me that with my discipline (food wise) my body probably is really just asking/craving and needing the extra! I find that true and notice the scale does too! (no change weight wise despite increasing muscle)!!
Just anecdotal though..Probably is some science behind it though....

Funny running across this thread. Im on an off day today, and all night at work I've been hungry. Kinda eating little things here and there (all clean food). Ive noticed this as kind of a reacurring theme on off days (for me anyway).

Simply stated, your body is gathering fuel and materials for the rebuilding it's doing during the rest. I look at it as a refueling stop. Eat what your body craves, and keep it clean eating, zone is good, so is paleo. Just for curiosity, take note of the last meal you eat on the workout day before the rest day. Any changes in carb intake?

Re: Hungriest on rest days?

I have massive hunger issues on rest days. I'm eating a really dial zone with extra fat that never has me hungry on workout days. Come rest day, I NEED food all the time. I generally have the willpower to avoid it, but I almost always have a hearty cheat meal on my first rest day which tends to help the situation out.

Another factor is that raising your body temperature decreases appetite (ever notice how you don't want to eat much when it's hot, but during winter you can pack a lot away?). Exercise does just this. Just a thought.

Re: Hungriest on rest days?

Thanks for the replies guys. All good ideas. I'll pay attention more careful attention to what I eat this cycle, see if anything changes.
