I guess this leads to the next question - why a depth guide at all? Shouldn't you always be squatting ATG?

I always thought that either you can't squat to parallel, so you go as far as you can (which is above med-ball depth), or you can squat to parallel in so you as far as you can (which is at or below med-ball depth).
