I would like to see a made lift for comparison.
And yes, he "only" got to see it live, but I assume he has seen you lift before to know your tendencies. That's why I asked what he said, to have an idea of that.
My suggestion would be that you focus on hang snatches for a bit until you are comfortable extending (i.e. standing up) fully, and then pulling yourself under the bar quickly as opposed to jumping up.
