I did it by doing a max set of pullups, getting off the bar and resting a few seconds, then getting back on and doing more pullups, etc. I ended up doing sets of 3 pull seperated by 4 or 5 seconds rest. I did roughly the same thing for pushups but my sets shrank more slowly. Situps were the only thing I really "gamed" by switching foot position (bent leg to straight leg) every 10 reps. Yes I took rests, and yes my sets shortened, but the initial sets were big enough that I still finished with 17:49, which is a good time. I think that while physically pacing yourself might be a good idea, from a mental point of view going max effort and then picking up pieces is a better prep. for getting the whole set.
