i think the key is each rep starts from the floor.

so you can
deadlift -> hang -> clean -> squat -> stand
deadlift -> hang -> clean -> squat -> stand
deadlift -> hang -> clean -> squat -> stand
etc.

but you can't
deadlift -> hang -> clean -> squat -> stand
hang -> clean -> squat -> stand
hang -> clean -> squat -> stand
etc.
