Thanks everyone for your advice. I share Emily's problem with shin splints, which is why my running shoes are so important, but they are really awful for squats and any lifting days. I think I will look up some of these sites for a relatively inexpensive pair of flat soled shoes for the lifting/squatting days and keep the running shoes handy for any workouts that involve running.
