Hello, I would like to pose a question to the knowledgeable members of the forum about deadlifts, would someone doing exclusively deadlifts in a strength program get the same detrimental effects on his knees that quarter-squats cause? I ask this because in a deadlift the hips never go below the knees and according to SS a squat that doesn't break parallel will hurt the knees.

The problem with quarter squats is that they basically dont provide enough stretch from the hamstrings to counter the stretch from the quads. In a deadlift your in a much greater position of hip flexion then a quarter squat, which provides you with that balancing hamtring stretch, which should make them fine to do exclusively.
