I tore mine completely in half a year ago in February. However, I did have surgery to repair it along with my labrum, bicep tendon and rotator cuff. So, I know that's not what you're asking, however, one thing that has helped me to regain strength was doing seated dumbell overhead presses. It really improved my ROM and I gained lots of strength from them. For what it's worth.
