Yes. That is what they taught me to do when I was at crossfit HQ. Basically, I do whatever I need to get the required pullups and I vary what I do - sometimes I do sets of regular kipping ones, sometimes I do regular and then switch to jumping, other times I use the gravitron or stand on a chair and just do negatives. You can use therabands as well. What I learned at HQ is that by varying how you get those pull ups, you will tax more of your body through different means and your strength/endurance/etc will increase faster.
