I totally agree with you. I was thinking about this last night, coincidentally. If I followed Armstrong to a T (I don't), I would be averaging over 50 pull-ups/day at my current ability. This would leave absolutely nothing left for pull-ups in the WOD. I think that following Recon Ron or performing pull-ups in the warm up (i.e. 3 sets of 10) finds a good balance point between necessary practice and overtraining.
