Somewhere else on that same (not w/f safe) site I read that your pullup should be at least as strong as your bench press. For example, if you can bench 1.5x bodyweight, you should be able to do a weighted pullup with +0.5x. Double bodyweight bench should be able to do +1x weighted pullup, etc. That made sense to me, as more untrained people could probably do 1 pullup than bench bodyweight. After they start lifting weights, which to many people means benching 5 days a week, that may no longer be true, and their shoulders may suffer as a result.
