Rings are supposed to be turned out.. so upside down it's like you're doing a curl. Make sure to grab some momentum because that generally helps a lot and you CANNOT let your hands move behind your torso or you're screwed (especially if you hold on and pop your shoulder). Basically keep your hands in front of you and turned out like a curl isometic at your waist.
