It's not specified so I guess do whatever sit-ups you can. My gym doesn't have a proper GHD - instead it has one of those 45 degree ones which is no good for sit-ups. I just do "normal" sit-ups on the floor instead. (I don't use the GHD for the back extensions for Michael either as it's downstairs, and the treadmill is upstairs - I just use a Swiss ball).
