Can't say specifically about your exact situation but, bad or problematic lower leg/foot mechanics can give you knee pain. Case in point, my arches fell at some point years back and since I walked about 14 miles per day on the job pushing, pulling, and lugging customers and their gear around casinos I got extreme tendonitis in the knees. My fix was learning to do deep squats and hold them for several minutes at a time. Eventually the pain went away. I figure that the flexing and stretching of the joint in this way caused the inflammation to subside and eventually go away completely.
