At an Olympic Lifting seminar I attended recently, run by Caleb and Kelly Williams, they said the only time one should look up is during the Jerk.
Take a big breath tighten up etc, then look up and jerk. It presets your chin out of the way so it is one less thing you need to do when pushing up. Then as the bar clears and you jerk back under the bar, your head comes back through.
I think I saw him in the journal recently saying the same thing - so search Caleb out.
I like it.

We didn't cover push-press or press however ... not olympic lift .... but I usually tuck back for those.
