12 hours really shouldn't be a struggle. Most people use "sleeping hours" in their total fast time. If you have ever eaten dinner at 7 PM and went to bed a couple hours later, then woke up at 7 AM and had breakfast, you have done a 12 hour fast.
So, a 16 hour fast would just be stretching it till lunch... So on and so on.
