Re: My Garage Gym

Looks good! Two thoughts:
1. I agree with others, you should build a lifting platform. You won't regret it
2. Why do you have your power rack on 2x4s? More importantly, are they bolted on? It looks...

Re: A simple way to fine tune safety spotters for bench presses

Sweet! That's the thing to do. I did the same thing myself. Bolted (and countersunk) 3/4" rubber to the feet. I don't have a picture of the whole bottom, but you get the idea.

Re: Outdoor exercise pergola with pullup bar and weightlifting platform

Lol love the decorative brick center section of the platform! How wide are the rubber drop zones? I assume 2'? Will that be enough space to keep the weights from hitting the bricks/wood or whatever...

Re: Coal belt for lifting platform

I read instructions for making a lifting platform somewhere that suggested using used conveyor belt rubber. The only concern would of course be coal dust/filth on the mats. If it seems like it would...

Re: Basement Gym

Well done! So is that carpet or rubber flooring on the floor? That's quite the psychedelic effect! How tall are your ceilings? You'll want to test the height when doing overhead presses/jerks/push...

Re: Video Tour of Freund Gym

Yes, I would agree, the equipment in your space warrants at least a 1200 sq. foot area. Great idea about taller ceilings, especially if you want to add rings and a rope climb or something.

Do you do...

Re: Video Tour of Freund Gym

Actually this is how I go to sleep almost every night. I have a trick where I put together my "fantasy gym" based on several revolving parameters (budget, space, modify existing etc.). So your gym...

Re: Video Tour of Freund Gym

One question: I notice there must be some dropping of kettlebells, do you have a dedicated indoor area with a large rubber matt, so you don't damage the wooden floor/lifting platform wooden...

Re: Pendlay Elite Bumper Plates

Thanks Lincoln. And Jeremy. Good points, and less bounce would definitely be best for safety, trumping all other considerations. I know my Hi-Temps have taken out a heater and put a big dent in my...

Re: My Garage

Kudos on a 2.5' center wood area of your platform! More space for dropping the plates onto rubber, as opposed to wood! :)

Re: Thinking about breaking down my platform.. when does the plywood become necessary

My platform drops about 2" per 8', and I haven't noticed any problems. Every once in a while the barbell "walks" down hill a bit when I drop it from over head, but nothing serious. I don't face the...

Re: Dropping Bumper plates

Drop them suckas from OH. As long as you got bumpers and platform, they're fine. Doesn't matter if you control the bar or not. If the bar starts bouncing laterally, grab it to keep it from "walking"...

Re: Dropping Bumper plates
