Re: Progenex Story / Research / It Works!!

I'd say it's not uncommon for females to eat less protein than their male counterparts, so when protein is upped, there could be noticeable performance benefits.

Also, I love the percentages to two...

Re: Myth or Fact: take BCAA while fasting?

2 Things.

a) Whey protein is around 25% BCAA, so you should already be getting a bunch. Even if they did have an effect, you'd need to take a lot, not 5g here and there.

b) Protein synthesis is...

Re: GOMAD - Starting out

Just how much contractile muscle tissue do you believe you can gain per week? Contrast that with the weight gain reported on GOMAD. Then ask yourself whether it's likely that they achieved steroid...

Re: Marathon training 'the right way'

Sorry, but in the same way that you know a lot more about Crossfit and lifting than Marathon runners, so do Marathon runners know a lot more about running. To say that all they do is LISS, shows that...

Re: Dextrose or oats Post Workout? Any real difference?

Btw, with all the protein/carbs, it does take them a fair bit of time (depending on type) to get absorbed, so if you really want them in your system as soon as you are done lifting, pre and...

Re: What to eat!!

Find a calculator, estimate your daily maintenance, subtract 15-20% from that. Take 1.3-1.5g of protein/lb of lbm (just to be safe), 25% fat, rest from carbs and eat that from high quality foods and...

Re: Confused on Fasted Training..

Why does a short-lived spike in GH even matter? Women have greater levels of GH than men and get greater GH responses to training...do they grow better?

Just make sure that whatever convoluted...

Re: Paleo Diet Challenge

Here's what women look like at various BF percentages:

This is what the body looks like (approximately) at each bodyfat level. Looking at those pictures, I'd say you went from 15...

Re: Help me determine caloric intake.

Margin of error means both + and -. Unless there is a bias, the errors cancel out (it's called the central limit theorem) to the mean anyways. As for why you were able to maintain your bodyweight,...

Re: Crossfit Supplements?

Nitrean+ is pretty good and Opticen is very tasty. Results is a quality product, even if I don't feel the usefulness/price ratio is as good as it could be due to my following, overly pedantic...

Re: Will Excessive Running Diminish My Strength Gains?

You seem to have overcompensated in the opposite direction, in that your hate of long-distance running makes you say that sprinting/squatting/lifting is the way to go. Don't project your own biases...

Re: Will Excessive Running Diminish My Strength Gains?

You can definitely improve your strength while maintaining the running. Not nearly as fast as without the running, but if you program it intelligently, given your current level, there is no doubt...

Re: A Tale of Two Meals... what's really making you fat.

Except that it's lazy and completely wrong. It gets to the point where people are afraid to eat fruit because they think they'll get fat.

Re: Help me determine caloric intake.

A) Why are you eating McDonalds on a diet, the margin of error is far lower with unprocessed foods.

B) Five decades of contest lean (natural) bodybuilders going to 3-4% bodyfat by meticulously...

Re: A Tale of Two Meals... what's really making you fat.

What's there to be confused about. Just think about it carefully, do you believe that if you eat 5000 calories of nuts a day that you will not get fat simply because nuts are paleo and without carbs...

b) How is 1g...

100g of beta alanine is maybe $7-8 at the most.

Re: Too much coffee?

I remember reading that up to 4 cups a day was fine (so maybe 300mg caffeine a day?). Depends on the size of the cup of course. As for water loss due to caffeine, it's vastly outweighed by the amount...
