I doubt the hot tub does much if anything for recovery, but personally I love soaking because it's fun and relaxing. If I'm going to soak after lifting, or do anything else other than eat right...

Each week I play old-guy hockey 5 days, lift weights 2/3 days, crossfit 2/3 days (alternate weeks). I don't know if this is ideal, but it's fun and I like the results.
