Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

That would explain the low finish.

We don't allow rebounding at our box -- even in competitions. Too high of a risk -- and if you time it, as we did during the Open, step up/step down can be...

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

For scaled, one barbell or two? Two different weights would required loading/unloading 10 lb. plates to go from 95 to 115 each round.

Doesn't say either way in the video or the printed standards. ...

Re: 2015 CrossFit Games open ideas... Lets hear them

I don't know if the combining of regions is going to work out well for CF in general (not sure about the Games). For our region (Asia) it is growing FAST and even though we only get one man and one...

Re: iOS Timer Apps to run through Apple TV

What timers does it have?

Can you save different intervals?

How is the output to an AppleTV?

iOS Timer Apps to run through Apple TV

We needed a new timer in our gym, and got a small cheap flatscreen TV and an Apple TV, and now can mirror our iPhone, iPod or iPad to the screen.

Generally it works great -- WAY more options for...

Re: Painted/vinyl lettering inside

That's what we do -- super easy to change later on as well.

Plus we don't have much in the way of walls, being mostly a couple of shipping containers and a huge canopy...

Re: Reebok only apparel at Crossfit Games?

Well a masters athlete just checked into the Games and asked about footwear and was told he can wear what he wants.

So is it only for Open competitors or a rumor or poor communication from CFHQ?

Comparison of new Reebok Lifters?

Has anyone put the new Reebok lifters through their paces yet? The CrossFit Lifter (http://www.roguefitness.com/reebok-crossfit-lifter-2-0-womens-porcelain-pink-black) and CrossFit Lifter Plus...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

Well, we've banned them at our box and from the competition we're hosting in August (Thailand Throwdown 2014 (http://thailandthrowdown.com) -- WFS). And I've been hearing from a few other boxes that...

I need a graphic designer...

...who does CrossFit, or at least understands CF.

We are hosting the Thailand Throwdown, and we need:

1. A t-shirt design incorporating our CrossFit Chiang Mai logo (or inspired by our logo)

2....

Re: Pull-up rig: free standing or against the wall?

Thanks Jon! Super helpful.

We don't have any walls yet (we have a freestanding canopy), but are trying to get our hands on a couple of shipping containers. So that adds to the issue.

We will do...

Best online competition/throwdown management software?

We're going to be hosting a throwdown/competition, and I'd like to us an online system that can handle registration and scoring.

I've looked at wodRocket, but what else is there that people...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Looks like the handstand walk and the legless rope climb is really having an impact on standings. Would be interesting to calculate the rankings without the handstand walk in there and see how they...

Pull-up rig: free standing or against the wall?

Building a new gym, on the site of thee old tennis courts. Huge space for outside work as well as inside. The gym will be a 12m x 24m canopy. No walls yet -- we will build them or drop shipping...

Re: Air Conditioning

We don't have air con here in Thailand. And it gets HOT and humid as well.

We run mister fans -- they are fantastic. Our gym is mostly open air, and the mist fans on one side do a great job of...

Re: MindBody vs ZenPlanner

FrontDesk.

We used ZP for awhile, and are VERY happy with FD. Great apps on iPhone/iPad, easy sign in with QR codes on the iPad app, etc. A much more modern and intuitive system compared to MBO or...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Think of climbing on the monkey bars as a kid. Grab the bar, swing your feet up and over the bar, and grunt your chest up to the bar. It's ugly but hilarious all at once. That's why we called it a...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Oh, it was unusual, that's for sure!

There is, of course, no way it would count, since it goes against the idea of what a chest to bar is supposed to be. We were just messing around since we suck...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Well, a coach and I just found a loophole in the rules, since she can't do chest to bar either. We're calling it the "grappling" chest to bar -- it includes hooking your feet on the bar to get your...

Re: Pretty glad I didn't sign up for the Open

Frustrating, sure, but we had several people get their first double unders this week -- some the the day of Open WOD. I'm crap at DUs but still did it.

Lots of folks did single-single-double, etc....

Re: Managing different levels of athletes: open gym or class only?

Yes, we would offer a third level -- competitors -- if there was interest. But even for competitors we would train so that we minimize the risk of injury (e.g. no rebounding box jumps in training,...

Re: Managing different levels of athletes: open gym or class only?

We've been thinking about his for awhile, and we're going to do levels rather than just scaling.

One idea I've been mulling over is two levels -- fitness and training.

People who are just coming...

Re: Research Study: CrossFit Injuries

It doesn't matter if you are comparing or not -- that was just an example of one type of study.

It is not a true cross section if you don't have a random sample. So it is still flawed. You will...

Re: Anyone know details on what happened to Kevin Ogar?

To clarify, the article seems to support the theory that it was the bounce off the plates, as they stated it seemed to initially hit around T1 when he dropped it then after it bounced off the plates...
