I have both models. If you find a C in good shape (I got lucky on craigslist with both), there is no reason the C won't do everything you need. Almost all parts are fixable and relatively cheap.

Part of the reason for color coding them is to reduce mis-loads. Coloring only the insides won't help as much with that problem, but I agree it will hold up for much longer.

Whenever I bench heavy I have a problem with my right shoulder internally rotating on the way up. I do everything I can to keep it from happening but can't seem to make it stop. It doesn't happen...

I tried several couch cushions this weekend with some foam and you're right it is just dangerous!

I'll try some other configuration before I give up on it.

I have tested during waking hours with my wife up two floors in our bedroom and she says it is pretty loud. This was just dropping 225 from DL height too.

It isn't so much the noise of the bar...

You should be good. As indicated above the 2 x 6 is measured before it is dried. It only ends up being about 1.5". Should fit.
