Re: Crossfitting after a Spinal Fusion
To correct this info, L5-S1 is actually the lumbar spine segment with the most sagittal plane movement so, yes, it's pretty important.
As a physical therapist, it really depends on the situation....

Re: Shoulder Decompression Surgery
Todd, I'd definitely request formal PT. Although you may able to get stronger and improve your ROM at home, you can't mobilize specific immobilities that facilitate the problem in the first place....

Re: Frozen Shoulder
If properly rehabbed, it can typically be become functional within 3-4mo and roughly back to normal (as normal as it will get) in about a year. It's a long battle, but I definitely support seeing...

Re: Torn Glute
Nerve impingements are pretty common, especially in people who challenge themselves on a regular basis. If you take care of your body with stretching and mobility work, things tend to be ok. If you...

Re: Red Spots Around EYES!!!
It's called petechiae. It's frequently caused by heavy workloads when you use the Valsalva excessively. It may help if you work your core strength and your HSPU form.

Re: Deciphering Shoulder MRI
Well, they're likely evaluating your resting position on the MRI, considering joint laxity cannot be assessed via MRI, only via functional testing (unless lax due to a tear). This means that you are...

Looking for the name of a type of squat
Hey guys,
I can't remember the name of the squat for the life of me. It entails standing on the side of the barbell, where the weight (of one side) is loaded. The individual then squats down,...

Re: Cuban Press- Shoulder rehab
This could help, but a lot of the time, the most bang for your buck comes from straight stretching of the pecs. Deltoid isn't very important for overall scapular or humeral positioning so I wouldn't...

Re: Cuban Press- Shoulder rehab
Yeah, you definitely need to work on both your pec major and minor to improve the range of your scapula and humerus. You can do some normal stretching and some mobility work if you refer to Kelly...

Re: Cuban Press- Shoulder rehab
Sounds to me like you're simply lacking external rotation or may have a weaker rotator cuff than you think. That can be due to the position of your humerus on the scapula itself or it can be solely...

Re: Acetabular Labrum tear
It seems you gotta find a different way to get out of bed then. Rolling toward the edge of the bed without any hip flexion is pretty easy. Then you just need to scootch your body perpendicular to the...

Re: 1 year post shoulder surgery , but....
I forgot to address that: if the shoulder looks rolled forward, it can be caused by two things: tight pec minor/serratus anterior leading to a protracted scapula OR tight pec major/weak posterior...

Re: Calf Pain and DU
It's likely achilles tendonitis/gastrocnemius or soleus strain if it's on the back of the calf. If it's on the inside, it's likely posterior tibialis strain/tendonitis. It could also be sciatic nerve...

Re: Acetabular Labrum tear
Actually, a labral tear is different from a capsular tear. They frequently come in combination, but don't have to. The labrum is part of the cartilagenous mass around and within the hip joint. Think...
