Re: Gillian Mounsey Article
Mark, of course data collected on forums is not going to give us a good scientific analysis of rates of rhabdo across a population as a whole. However, they do tell us that rhabdo happens more...

Which you'd think Crossfit would do, especially after the Mimms lawsuit . . . But I suppose that's the advantage of not being a franchise or keeping track of patterns of injuries. Plausible...

So doing things that directly oppose how Greg Glassman suggests people work out (focusing specifically on weaknesses, periodizing, not randomizing things) is now "Advanced Crossfit"?

High-rep box jumps are programmed regularly on the main page outside of the Games. And are you saying Crossfit HQ has no responsibility to program workouts that take into account that there are...

Multiple people popped their Achilles doing one of the high-rep box jump workouts of the Open. They were doing a workout Crossfit HQ chose--is that outside the boundaries of Crossfit? Achilles...

This is telling me nothing about your squat, bench, deadlift, C&J, snatch, log press, stone loading before and after Crossfit . . . It tells me nothing about your programming before and after...

Rhabdo and Achilles tears are not normal. Those are crazy freak injuries that are so rare I'd say most people didn't even know they could happen . . . before they became a serious issue in Crossfit....

I'm trying to figure out what your response means other than an excuse to be smug. Are you saying that the preventable, predictable injuries that result from poor Crossfit HQ programming and...

I got into strength-and-conditioning through Crossfit. Probably like a lot of people here.
When I started, I didn't know crap about S&C. I didn't know crap about good form, or proper...

I was pretty disgusted with the body image aspects--the encouragement for her to drop muscle and bodyweight so she didn't look "big" and was more presentable as a Crossfit Girl.
To me that is the...

Re: I want to dive deeper into olympic lifting.
I'd definitely buy Greg Everett's Olympic weightlifting book (should be on Catalyst), read through it, and follow his beginner's programs. I've heard excellent things about it from many people.

What are you implying? Rhabdomyolysis has enough of a different mechanism in action when not exercise-induced as to invalidate the study? Or that animal models aren't appropriate? Because the...
