Re: Osteoporosis

Everyone's osteoporosis is different. I am a 26yr old male, 6'0", 205lbs, been crossfitting for over 2 1/2 years, and you'd never know it but I have full blown osteoporosis. I've had it all my...

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I may be one of the few that thinks thrusters WON'T be in 13.5, since it would be the 3rd time going overhead, 4th if you count the snatches. I think Pullups/C2B are a given, supplemented with front...

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I would contend that even though the wall ball isn't a true squat, it did demand a full depth squat in the movement, which is why I believe squats may be saved for 13.5. I also don't think there will...

Re: 13.3 'Déjà vu' strategy.

Last year I broke the Wall Balls down like this: 30-15-15-10's the rest of the way with short breaks. By getting the first 60 done while fresh, you are already over 1/3rd through them. Once you hit...

Andover CF's heading to Southie Cert Next week?

I am traveling in from out of state to attend the L1 Cert at Crossfit Southie next weekend (Oct 20/21), and I'll be staying in Andover with family but will be without a car. I'd hate to monopolize...

Re: Lower back muscles

Might be your SI joint.

i am currently experiencing a similar situation. Long story short, i had a WOD with high reps of squats (back, front, and OH) that left me pretty sore, followed by a...

Re: Inov8 Flite 230 vs NB Minimus MT20

Just don't get the MT20v2 (version 2). I had a pair for a few months and they are already beat to s**t, and the rope climbs on 31 heroes was the last straw... I feel like they were made with real...

Re: What makes a scaled team scaled?

Sure, the scaled "top prize" may not be nearly as big, but think of it from the position of someone competing in the scaled division, and is likely new to competition. You don't think they are just...

What makes a scaled team scaled?

In competitions that feature an RX division as well as a scaled, what is to stop some ringers or VERY experienced athletes from competing in the scaled competition and stealing the top prizes?

The...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Honestly, if Froning stays healthy throughout regionals and the games, the title is his to lose. If he goes out there and performs to his potential, it's all over.

This may be the most obvious...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Am I missing something? Why do people want/expect to see HSPU? I only ask because (a) I suck at them and would hate to see it and (b) how are they different/unique than any other exercise? I...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Thoughts on what we might see on 12.5 tomorrow and what we probably won't see.

Likely:
-General "Heavyness"
-Pull-ups, has to be some form of pull-ups
-Deadlifts, everyone wants them, something...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

I think this is more to my point. The ones who are in it to make a run at regionals and the games will be getting to those high scores, whereas with 12.1, there are plenty out there who scored...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Judging by the difficulty in just the 2nd WOD of the Open, it seems CF HQ is getting a head start on weeding people out due to the extra large field to ensure the right people are making it to...

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

I had to re-jump a few times... if you are to miss the target at all, get those jumps out of the way early. It REALLY sucks to re-jump after burpee 80 and 90... no bueno.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

Also agree with the above posts. We all knew it would be a 'simple' workout to try and get as many participants as possible, and since burpees are more/less a staple of crossfit, I think it's...

Re: deadlifts after before during running is a no go

Tell us some more about the WOD and your experience level. How long have you been crossfitting/deadlifting? What was the weight and how many reps?

The knee jerk reaction was that the weight was...

I've never owned any of the other shoes on the list, but I have no complaints regarding my MT101's. I wear them for every WOD, and they are also perfectly good for running 5-6 miles. They also hold...

Re: Those Exercises that teach us humility

during a partner chipper WOD: 600m Medicine ball toss (20lb ball), basically squat like a wall ball but throw it up and forward for 600meters.

The term emasculating was used. Worth a try if you've...

Sandbag Runs & Shoulder discomfort (post-WOD)

Just thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone else has experienced the same. Here was Monday's workout:

29min AMRAP
400m Sandbag Run (45lbs)
1 Rope Climb
9 Toes to bar
6 Thrusters (#135)
8...
