Re: Good way to learn how to punch/footwork (basic stuff)...

Well unfortunately in class we don't really touch on the basics. I try to pick up a lot from watching the teacher and the other people in the class, but we never went over like how to stand, where...

Re: Martial Arts on top of crossfit?

Well nailing the hard bag with my toe the first day, I was definitely sore. Luckily I didn't break anything in my foot. Today my right calf/ankle/shin felt like it was going to give at any moment,...

Re: Information for a beginner.

I just started MMA training at 22, now that I've finished undergrad and have a lot more time on my hands, especially now in the summer before I begin grad school.

As for which to start with, I do...

Re: Martial Arts on top of crossfit?

So if I do it on my off days, how should I proceed with it? Since it's MWF (or MWTh, haven't decided yet), that obviously will make rest days very interesting.

So should I a) keep the crossfit...

Martial Arts on top of crossfit?

I am going to start doing Muay Thai and BJJ this Friday (first lesson free, yay), finally! But I'm worried about stretching myself too thin. Right now I do crossfit after work at about 5, and I...

Re: Looking for a motorcycle...

First bike? I would try the SV650, going to be a much better choice for a beginner rider than a 919.

Re: In Need of Help With Starting Strength

You probably need to work on your form quite a bit for squats and deads. I still can't squat very much, even though my leg press isn't too shabby. I just haven't gotten the form for squatting down...

Shoulder impingement?

What exactly is it and what does it feel like. I've been having some shoulder problems lately, mainly when my arm is above shoulder level. It hurts to shift a little bit in my car, and it hurts...

What is a high pull deadlift?

Before anyone rips me a new one, I am at work and do not have access to the videos that are usually so helpful. Just wondering what a high pull deadlift is. I assume that means to bring the bar to...

Re: Looking for a crossfit gym in CT

Right now all the CT seem a bit far for me (I am in West Hartford right now at U. of Hartford) but in the fall I will be going to U. of New Haven for my Masters and will probably join one of the...

Looking for a crossfit gym in CT

Recently started doing crossfit but am finding that my gym lacks some of the more specialized equipment (rings, kettleballs, etc). Looking for a nearby crossfit gym.

Re: What are you reading?

Currently? Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, good book but I have no time with school right now. Once I graduate I plan on finishing that and moving on to my list:

Foundation Series ...

Re: Pectus Excavatum

It's not bad enough that I would want to undergo expensive surgery and months of recovery.

Pectus Excavatum

I have a small to medium indentation in the sternum, as well as ribs that flare a bit. Could this be effecting my cardiovascular endurance? I have never been very good at long distance anything and...

Re: Ideal crossfit kind of diet?

Ok you said best for weight loss. I'm not looking to lose weight. I'm already 5'7" 160ish, so I'm fairly small and I'm trying to put on some mass, but I want it to be lean mass as much as possible....

Ideal crossfit kind of diet?

I have been weightlifting for about 3 years now, and recently (last week) started on Crossfit.

My diet has never been spectacular; I am a full time student and also work part time so a lot of my...
